Republican maverick and national opinion leader Grover Norquist has endorsed The Atlas Society's new book, The Republican Party's Civil War: Will Freedom Win?

"The Republican party is the only possible vessel for the freedom movement in the United States.  Ed Hudgins’ exciting book makes his case for how the GOP can best become a stronger vehicle for those of us travelling the too long, too windy road to Freedom."

Grover Norquist, founder and president of Americans for Tax Reform.

About the book:

GOP Civil war Republical Party's Civil War Will Freedom Win

The GOP is adrift and in intellectual disarray. In this uneasy coalition of three factions are: traditional limited-government conservatives, libertarians, constitutionalists, and many Tea Party activists: the heirs to the Goldwater-Reagan limited government philosophy. There are establisment Republicans and neoconservatives who want to keep the welfare state but simply make it work more efficiently. And third, there are extreme social conservatives who give priority to cultural issues, often favoring government-imposed limits on liberty.

A dramatic transformation of the GOP into a modernist, forward-looking party is possible. The Republican Party must welcome new constituencies, especially entrepreneurial wealth creators and young people. And it must let other constituencies fall away . Such a transformed party could spearhead a bright future for the country rather than watch from the sidelines as America undergoes a European-style collapse.

The book, edited by Edward Hudgins , features contributions by Hudgins, constitutional scholar David N. Mayer , philosopher David Kelley , economics professor William R Thomas , and business/finance reporter and book author Walter Donway .

About Grover Norquist

"Norquist has been responsible, more than anyone else, for rewriting the dogma of the Republican Party."

— Steve Kroft, 60 Minutes

From Wikipedia: "Grover Norquist is an American political advocate who is founder and president of Americans for Tax Reform , an organization that opposes all tax increases and is a co-founder of the Islamic Free Market Institute. A libertarian-leaning Republican,he is the primary promoter of the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge," a pledge signed by lawmakers who agree to oppose increases in marginal income tax rates for individuals and businesses, as well as net reductions or eliminations of deductions and credits without a matching reduced tax rate. Prior to the November 2012 election, the pledge was signed by 95% of all Republican members of Congress and all but one of the candidates running for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

The primary policy goal of Americans for Tax Reform is to reduce government revenues as a percentage of the GDP."
